OneDigital Investment Advisors has hired former Carson Group investment chief Saumen Chattopadhyay as their new CIO.
Chattopadhyay started with OneDigital on October 11, according to a OneDigital spokesperson.
As CIO, Chattopadhyay oversees Atlanta-based OneDigital’s portfolio management and due diligence team, which includes 10 people and represents $80 billion in client assets.
Chattopadhyay will be responsible for economic predictions, selecting investments for retirement plans, working on benefit strategies, managing endowment and foundation programs and the firm's wealth advisory business, according to the press release.
As a member of the investment committee, he will help build and manage investment portfolios on behalf of OneDigital’s retirement and wealth division.
Chattopadhyay replaces former CIO James Battmer, who left OneDigital in March 2021. Battmer is now CIO at Lockton Companies, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Previously, Chattopadhyay spent about two years at Omaha, Nebraska-based Carson Group, where he progressed from vice president of investment platform to senior vice president to chief investment officer, according to his LinkedIn profile. He registered with Carson Group in 2019, according to his BrokerCheck record.
As Carson Group CIO, Chattopadhyay managed their $20 billion investment platform and a team of 14 investment professionals, according to OneDigital's press release.
A spokesperson for Carson Group did not respond to requests for comment.
