Bank of America says it launched an “AI-driven investing experience” for self-directed clients on its Merrill Edge platform.

The new offering, dubbed Dynamic Insights, is a client-facing dashboard that pulls together market data and portfolio insights driven by artificial intelligence as they relate, in real time, to a client’s holdings, accounts and current market conditions, BofA says in a press release. The dashboard also shows customers how their investments line up with their personal values in regard to environmental, social and governance ratings, according to BofA.

The AI engine taps the data already available to self-directed investors, the bank says, but to give more meaningful answers to questions such as “What is the market doing?” and “How are my investments performing?” in what BofA says is “a comprehensive yet easily digestible format.”

“The personalized AI-driven experience educates clients to help them hone their investing strategy and portfolio analysis ― for the current economic environment, for when it changes and beyond,” a spokeswoman for BofA tells FA-IQ.

BofA has been ramping up its offerings for retail investors in recent months. In October, the company joined the race to zero commissions initially launched by Charles Schwab. BofA first expanded unlimited commission-free stock, ETF and options transactions to Merrill Edge customers who had account balances of $20,000 or more with the bank, and then, in December, to all self-directed Merrill Edge customers.
