A veteran financial advisor has left Ameriprise Financial to go independent, aligning with an LPL Financial firm, LPL says.

Mike Bensey is partnering with Good Life Companies, which offers financial advisors support and resources and leverages LPL’s broker-dealer and corporate RIA platforms, according to a press release from LPL.

He previously managed roughly $275 million at Ameriprise, LPL says. Bensey joined the financial services industry in 1987 and came to Ameriprise in 2012, according to his BrokerCheck record.

“I’m happy to move to an independent model that offers increased support with the partnership of both Good Life and LPL Financial,” Bensey says in the press release. “Good Life has been instrumental in helping transition and establish my business. And with LPL’s platform, I have access to a broad range of resources to manage my business as well as access to products and platforms to support the variety of needs my clients have.”

LPL has had a streak of recruiting wins this year. It added 80 advisors in the first quarter and has brought on several more since March, including a Merrill Lynch father-son duo managing $100 million and a $3 billion Florida-based RIA.

What’s more, LPL has recently set up a premium RIA to expand its recruiting, and also introduced an employee channel for independent advisors, as reported.
